Everyone loves a good compliment" the saying goes.... But, in all our striving for affirmation -- in social media "likes," followers, emojis, or marks of status -- have we've forgotten how to give an authentic compliment?
I have always had a complicated relationship with compliments. Growing up in a family that didn't give them, I learned how to deflect them as a way of not drawing attention to myself. Yet, these experiences only made me more interested in the power of the compliment and its ability to inject immediate intimacy and empathy into any human exchange.
In this modern age of addiction, perhaps the only thing that can really keep us healthy is our ability to recognize ourselves in others. The idea of Compliment Drops is a reminder to ourselves to give others a daily dose of kindness, which in turn, is the kindest thing we can do for ourselves.
We have a mission of hand-writing 1 million Compliment Drops in 2018. This is our small way of being part of each dose of love passed through the gift of compliment giving.
Love is our drug!
Happy Compliment Dropping!
